The Silerton Volunteer Fire Department will be holding its annual Christmas fundraising bake sale this year. Our steadfast and valiant Donna Waldrip has blessed us again with coordinating the event, scheduled for Dec. 18-19. Please consider helping in any way and offering to bake a family favorite for the sale. If your family does not appreciate your special dish, then submit it as a personal favorite for other more appreciative people to enjoy! More information will be forthcoming as the date approaches. For information and to donate your services, please contact Donna at 731-658-7889 (land line).
This past Saturday, Silerton Baptist Church had its annual hayride. Just under 40 attended and enjoyed perfect weather for the hayride. Afterwards, a bonfire was lit, and hot dogs and smores were served. Many thanks to Tim James for cooking the hot dogs and Matt Naylor for manning the tractor for the hayride. Tim is to be commended for not fully turning the hot dogs into charcoal, and Matt returned with everyone safe and sound.
Silerton Baptist Church was proud to be represented by its youngest members at the Hardeman County Baptist Association meeting held at the First Baptist Church, Bolivar. The children recited verses and sang songs during the opening of the association’s “Night of Worship” this past Sunday. Much gratitude to Debbie Ross and Guillermina Tidwell for all their hard work in preparing the children for their performance. During Silerton’s Sunday service, happy birthday was sung to Grady Stack. Let us also wish a happy 14th anniversary to Frankie and Mary Lynn Lambert.
Earlier this month, Wanda Cook along with her daughter and grandson took a trip to the Smokey Mountains. They visited Sevierville where her grandson rode the rides. They also visited The Overlook, saw beautiful fall foliage, ate at Joe’s Crab Shack and experienced the apex of convenience store/gas station heaven at a Buc-ee’s.
