Freed-Hardeman track and field and cross country student-athlete Bo Scott has been named the 2023-24 Mid-South Conference Male Character First Award recipient, conference officials announced Wednesday.
The honor is the first for Scott and he becomes the first Freed-Hardeman male student-athlete to earn the recognition.
Scott is active in his social club Xi Chi Delta where he is involved in different intramurals and active in homecoming events. In the community, he was a guest reader for one of the elementary school classes during their week of reading. Scott often attends Henderson Church of Christ and he has done service projects there. He volunteered at the Boys Children’s Home doing yard work, staying for a devotional and playing volleyball with the kids.
This past season, Scott earned Third Team All-MSC honors in the 4x800 relay at the conference outdoor championship. He also posted a season-best 8K time of 24:49.5 at the MSC Cross Country Championship.
The Male Character First award is presented to a student-athlete who has displayed integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. Through consistently demonstrating these character traits in word and action, the student-athlete has made a profound impact on their team, their institution, and their community. The award is selected by the conference’s character committee. Forcht Bank sponsors the Mid-South Conference Character First awards.
