The Eagles may have lost, but they never gave up!
FINAL SCORE
20-13

The Chester County Eagles Football team are now 1-2 after playing the Rebels in McKenzie Friday night, who now have a 3-0 record. As the Friday night lights brighten the stadium in McKenzie cloudy skies began to fill the atmosphere, but that did not stop the Chester County Eagles or the McKenzie Rebels from coming out on the field ready to play. After asking Head Coach Dewon Johnson what his and the Eagles intentions were for the game Coach Johnson stated, “Our intentions are to play well, that’s our biggest goal is to play well. To give ourselves a chance to win at the end. I mean if we can all just put it together and play as one then good things will happen”. Friday’s game started off with Chester County Eagles Aidan Welch DB/WR with the kickoff return at the start of the first quarter.
The Eagles got their first down with the 30-yard line. The McKenzie Rebels got the first touchdown of the night with less than seven minutes on the clock and score sitting at 7 to 0. The Eagles were determined and they were not backing down. The heavy rain did not stop the game from being played, because the Rebels along with the Eagles were still on the field playing. The Chester County Eagles had two minutes and 12 seconds on the clock when they scored their first touchdown made by No. 6 Ethan Burks, a junior QB. The Eagles went for the extra point by attempting the field goal, but the kick was blocked. Before the quarter ended the Rebels tried for another touchdown, but a personal foul was called on one of their players with less than 10 seconds on the clock before halftime, ending the quarter with a score of 7 - 6. At the beginning of the second quarter the rain finally slacked up, though everyone was soaked from head to toe; both teams came back onto the field making plays and moving the ball down the field, but the Rebels had more luck on their side at the time. The Rebels played tough defense that kept the Eagles from scoring during this quarter leaving the Rebels score at 13 and the Eagles at 6. The 3rd quarter began with the Rebels 1st down at the 37-yard line. Their 2nd down was on the 20. They quickly get their third down, but before getting their fourth down the referees blew their whistles and a 5-yard penalty is called on McKenzie with 6:55 on the clock. The Eagles fought throughout each play to stop the Rebels offense, but not hard enough to stop them from scoring another touchdown in the bottom of the third. Rebels score again bringing the score to 20 and 6.
The 4th quarter starts off at a steady pace. 1st down and 10 at the 37-yard line for the Rebels. The next pass for the Rebels is incomplete at the 46th-yard line and just like that the Eagles recover the ball. Cheering and excitement from the Eagles coaches, players, cheerleaders, and fans fill the stadium with hope and determination that the Eagles will score again. The Eagles eventually get the ball down the field and with less than 11 minutes left in the quarter, Senior #1 Jaylen Edgeston, a DB/WR4 makes a touchdown bringing the Eagles score to 13. With a close score of 19-24, Chester County’s senior Zoe Kilzer, made the block which resulted in the Lady Eagles’ victory over the Hardin County Bulldogs. The Lady Eagles won all three sets. After asking Head Coach Ellis what was the Lady Eagles goal coming in to this match, she stated “We went four sets with them at their place and so our goal was to go three sets here and we did. We were kind of down and no energy, so that was what I preached the entire time; but our goal was to keep talking, keep having energy and to win in three”. CCHS vs South Side

This set had the players, coaches, and the Eagles fans very excited. Just a few points away from ending the set the Lady Eagles fought back to win the third set 25-19. Head Coach Emily Ellis shared, “I am so very proud of our girls. They brought the energy and the fight tonight. Our goal was to beat South Side on their home court and we did it. It has been a long time coming, but we did it and I couldn’t be more proud of all of them”.
