A special Veterans’ Day ceremony took place on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at Henderson City Hall. This celebration was led by Post 157 of the American Legion. Army veteran Paul D. Martin was the master of ceremonies. He led the audience in both the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance. An invocation was given by Post 157 chaplain, Paul Boucher.
Both County Mayor Barry Hutcherson and City Mayor Terry Bell gave proclamations to the audience. Mayor Hutcherson recognized the service and sacrifice of the armed forces for our freedom. He called upon those in Chester County to honor our nation’s veterans on this day. Mayor Bell gave gratitude to the armed forces on behalf of the city. He also called upon those in the city of Henderson to observe Veterans’ Day and honor those who have served.
Veteran Service Officer and veteran of the U.S. Marines, Gloria Holiday, gave rousing remarks on behalf of Veterans’ Day. She celebrated the 250 years of service that the Army, Navy, and Marines have given to our country. Holiday also gave a reminder that the freedom we enjoy in this nation did not come freely, so she encouraged everyone to thank those who defend it.
To finish out the program, a video presentation was given in celebration of the 205th anniversary of the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marines. Paul Boucher ended the ceremony with a prayer.
The Chester County Independent thanks all who have served and are serving in our nation’s defense of freedom. We recognize and thank you for your service.
