Tree Lighting, Parade dates announced

The Chester County Commission met Monday, Nov 10, in the historic Chester County Courthouse. 12 members of the commission were present, with 6 absent.
In addition to budget amendments, the Commission approved quarterly reports for the following: School System, Highway Department, Trustee’s Office, County General, Solid Waste Department, Library, Fire Department, and the Emergency Medical Services. A significant item in these reports came from the Trustee’s Office and the Solid Waste Department. The Trustee’s Office reported that they have had the highest rate of taxes collected in October at 56%. The Solid Waste Department met its 25% diversion rate goal at 27%.
A motion was approved to support the building of a Dollar General in the Montezuma community. There was also a motion for the application for a grant that would assist in restoring Chester County’s historic courthouse. This motion was approved. The commission approved the sale of excess equipment of the Solid Waste Department. The Jail Committee was also approved.
There was a motion to approve the pay of Fire Department members who are paid by the Safer Grant through the end of January. The current government shutdown is affecting the accessibility of these funds. This was approved by the committee.
The meeting ended with a reminder of upcoming events in Chester County. The Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on Nov. 29. The annual Christmas Parade will occur on Dec. 4.
The next meeting of the County Commission will take place in mid-January.
