Silerton Baptist Church celebrated Mother’s Day with some very touching personal testimonies from children to their mothers. The children answered such questions as, “What does your mother do to make you laugh?” and “What would you buy your mother if you had all money in the world?” With spring fully underway, one could hear birdsong outside compete with, or rather one should say accompany, a hymn in honor of mothers sung by Annette Simer and Butch Ross.
Piney Grove Baptist church recently enjoyed a weekend retreat at Pickwick Landing state park. They enjoyed lots of laughter, good food and games. Plus, Bro. David always has a great word from the Bible.
Kevin Wade and wife, Debbie, spent the weekend in our area. Kevin is the son of the late Hulon and Ann Wade. They traveled from Illinois to spend the weekend with family. Friday night, they joined family members at Casey Jones restaurant in Jackson for a great meal. Saturday night, they joined the crowd at the crawdad boil at the home of Larry Lambert. On Sunday, they attended the Homecoming service at Palestine Baptist church and the potluck dinner provided by church families.
In continued celebration of Decoration Day, the Frys also joined many Lamberts, their relatives and guests this Saturday for a sumptuous feast put on by Anita and Larry Lambert and cooked by their talented son, Joey. The gargantuan and very colorful spread was a crawfish boil with all the usual seasonings and vegetables one could wish for. The dessert table(s) groaned under the weight many delectable dishes. There was further groaning from the many who ate to their heart’s content.
