The Silerton City Council met Feb. 24. Receiving a defibrillator and weather radios from the county/state was discussed. Another April roadside cleanup is also being considered, and volunteers are requested. The more hands at it, the faster it will go. Gail Mayfield confirmed that chair yoga will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in March and April at Silerton Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
This past Sunday, Silerton Baptist was treated with Butch Ross belting out the Lord’s Prayer in song that shook the walls of the church. Afterwards, a duet with Annette Simer and Butch was sung. Happy birthday was sung to our two wonderful Wandas: Wandy Cook and Wandy Fry. Wanda Cook had a big family turnout to celebrate her birthday. Happy Anniversary was sung to Pastor Charlie and his wife Jeanie. As always, the entire church membership stands in awe of Jeanie’s 22 years of resoluteness and forbearance. Please remember Ashley Leatherwood in prayer in the recent death of her mother.
A reminder that there will be a Silerton Volunteer Fire Department meeting at 7 p.m. March 10. All are welcome. Last month’s meeting was canceled due to illness.
Thomas and Jonathan Banks will be celebrating birthdays on March 29.
Piney Grove Baptist church will be having revival services March 6-8. Times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday night and 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday. Jeremy Luna will be the evangelist.
Sarah and Shawn Yelverton had a wonderful and peaceful honeymoon trip to the mountains in east Tennessee. They enjoyed the sound of the rain hitting their cabin’s tin roof and enjoying their morning coffee with the beautiful view of the mountains from their porch.
On the goat front: Noisy mayhem. There are now about 13 kids bleating and jumping around. More kids to come. The ailing triplet that Joe Stack tried to keep going did not make it but did pass away warm and under a roof. It is feared that a kid or two might have been taken by predators, but only time will tell, as they can hide better than someone hiding income from the IRS (yes, April will soon be here).
A reminder to “spring forward” an hour the morning of March 8 for Daylight Savings Time.
