The Silerton City Council met on Oct. 28 to start pulling Christmas decorations out of storage. Lights were tested, and bulbs were replaced in preparation for them to be hung later in November.
This past Sunday, Silerton Baptist Church had Brother Ronnie Simpson as a guest pastor while Brother Charlie performed a service at another church. Due to the chance of bad weather, the church hayride/weenie roast was rescheduled from Nov. 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 8. If it rains on Nov. 8, the cookout will be moved indoors. Missionary shoeboxes are to be packed at 6 p.m. Nov. 12. The pastor search committee is scheduled to meet next Sunday after service. Prayers are requested for Gwen Cox from Piney Grove, Rachel Lambert’s mother, and Larry Hooper who is back home under hospice care.
The Tidwell hens are still molting, having many Silertonians resort to using store bought eggs. It is like your mom coming down with a bad cold – you do not really appreciate her until she is out of commission for a while.
Frankie, Larry and Leo Lambert took a morning walk in the Pine Top area looking for a big rock in that area. The big rock eluded them as the trio undoubtedly made too much noise. Before the game warden gets on to them, somebody needs to tell them it is not rock season yet. Does anyone have any suggestions on where this big rock might be located?
The Gilbert and Lois Stack children and families gathered at the home of Frankie and Mary Lynn Lambert in Saulsbury for their annual reunion. Thirty-four family members were in attendance. After a delicious meal and games planned by Jan Stack, the families departed very thankful for their large family.
Jamie and Marcus Fry attended the Jackson Symphony this past Saturday. On the program was Beethoven’s Seventh symphony and Dvoƙák’s cello concerto. Beethoven’s Seventh was on Marcus’ “bucket” list. The “bucket” is still quite full.
