Hello to all! I hope everyone has had a good week. Today is Sunday, April 10. The sun is shining and the skies are blue with a few grayish-white clouds noted. Our dogwood tree is in full bloom. Birds are visiting our feeders, and we have seen our first hummingbird. We have food out for it, too. We are prepared for yard mowing, but it seems like it will be Thursday or Friday before we have enough sun and less rain. All in good time I say.
We enjoyed the Sunday morning service at Friendship Baptist Church. The sermon was about the time leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus. Pilate “almost” letJesus go, but the people wanted to crucify Jesus and let Barabbas go. We all have the “almost” days. Can you think of those days and how things might have gone if you had made a different decision? Of course, we know that this was all in God’s plan before time. We will be having a sunrise service on Easter Sunday at 6 a.m. with breakfast following the service. Please feel free to come and worship our Lord and Savior in remembrance of the sacrifice He made long ago. There will also be our regular service with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 10:30 a.m.
Happy birthday to Kacey Pratt, 4-10; John Thomas Wells, 4-12; and Bristen Matheney, 4-13.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Randy Baker, Sheila Berry, Joe Bingham, Marie Bishop, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. and Jeanette Butler, John Butler, Jackie Chambers, James Ellis, Estelle Jones, Maryann Lackie, Larry Lambert, LaVelle Page, Nancy Parker, Pam Priddy, Jesse Pugh, Todd Rencher, Donald Rowlett, Jake Richardson, Gina Robinson, Kristi Taylor, David Tucker, Tony Tucker and Adam Wise. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
“Dear God, Thank You for the resurrection of Your Son, Jesus. We want to celebrate Him every day of our lives. In a world that grows increasingly dark, help us hold up His light. Give us the courage to speak as boldly as Mary Magdalene did, and never be ashamed of proclaiming Your Good News. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.” -Liz Curtis Higgs
“There’s no storm that God won’t carry you through. No bridge that God won’t help you cross. No battle that God won’t help you through. No heartache that God can’t help you let go of. He is so much bigger than anything you will ever face. Leave everything in His hands. Embrace each day confidently, knowing that He will take care of you.” - unknown
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
