Oh, what a beautiful morning; oh, what a beautiful day!
Hello to all! Today is Sunday, 3-20. The sun is shining, and the skies are blue. What a wonderful day to be alive! Every day is good regardless, and I am thankful for every day. We miss Nick and family that has gone on every day, and we have our health issues but are thankful for every blessing seen and unseen. God is so good. We are supposed to have pretty good weather this week. Temperatures mostly in the 60s with rain expected on Tuesday and possible Wednesday. I imagine many are itching to get out and start yard work in preparation for the summer season. Isn’t it wonderful to have four seasons? We may not like them all for one reason or another, but this way, everyone has a choice. My least favorite is winter, but even it holds beauty.
We had a very good service at Friendship Baptist Church today. The sermon today was about worrying. We should not worry, but, being human, most of us do at one time or another. We know that we have no control over anything in this life, but God does expect us to try and follow the right path (His), do our best, help others and leave the rest to Him. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m., and worship service is 10:30 a.m. Please come and worship the Lord with us; we would love to have you.
Lavelle Page spent a week in Nashville with her daughter Lisa and her husband. Rachel Ellington spent last week in Scottsboro, Ala., with her daughter Sherry Utley and husband Greg. She also celebrated Sarah’s 20th birthday while there.
Cissy Nichols spent last weekend in Knoxville with her brother “Bubba” Flew.
Kendyl Davidson, a student at UT Martin and daughter of Marla and Kevin Davidson is enjoying spring break with her sorority sisters in Florida.
Kevin and Marla Davidson and Brooklyn Walls spent the weekend in Knoxville to attend the wedding of a friend.
Happy birthday to Jeannette Butler and Carter Seaton, 3-21; Darrell Williams, 3-22; and Marla Kirk, 3-24.
Happy anniversary to Ann and Jeff Weir, Carla and Rick Prater and Marla and Chris Kirk, 3-24.
Please continue to remember these in prayer: Randy Baker, Sheila Berry, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. and Jeanette Butler, John Butler, Jackie Chambers, Kase King, Maryann Lackie, LaVelle Page, Nancy Parker, Pam Priddy, Jesse Pugh, Todd Rencher, Jake Richardson, Gina Robinson, Kristi Taylor, David Tucker, Tony Tucker, Adam Wise and the Patsy Ross family. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
BE AN OAK TREE
“Rooted” by Diane Ranker Riesen - “What strength the mighty Oak displays - how much it can endure…when other trees may break and fall…the Oak stands firm, for sure. I’ve often wondered why this is; what makes this tree so strong - it reaches ‘high and firmly’…it’s lifetime stretched so long. And then, one day I read about the roots of this great tree…and how they dig down deep with power; and then it dawned on me - The Oak trees strength is underneath…where no one else can reach and all its power to withstand trials - are in those ‘roots’ beneath. Perhaps that’s what we all need…a firmly rooted base - A place no one can ever reach; a place that holds our ‘Faith.’ True strength is never visible - it’s really quite unseen; but, with this core so deeply stored…no storm can make us ‘lean.’ We’ll stand strong like the mighty Oak…no trials will take us down; and every time we feel attacked - our hidden Faith is found. Make sure your roots are firmly placed - and keep that Faith secure; then, though you’ll face strong storms…with God, you will endure!”
“There’s no storm that God won’t carry you through. No bridge that God won’t help you cross. No battle that God won’t help you through. No heartache that God can’t help you let go of. He is so much bigger than anything you will ever face. Leave everything in His hands. Embrace each day confidently, knowing that He will take care of you” - unknown
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings.
