Greetings from Hickory Corner!
I am sure everyone is liking our warmer weather. I know I do. Do not let Mother Nature fool you though. Last year we got several inches of snow in March.
My son Terry and his wife Jo are here. What does that mean? If you drive by, you will see my yard all cleaned up. No more sticks and little branches in my yard. It also means I will be going to their place a few times to eat supper and that means very little cooking for me this week. Jo fixed homemade pizza last night. I do enjoy when my kids come, and hopefully, Jo and I will get a little shopping in at some point. My lab Ruger has a little more pep in his step hanging out with their lab Cooper. He sure perks up when they come but is sad when they leave. I know the feeling.
Presidents’ Day will be celebrated this coming Monday, Feb. 20. It is a day to celebrate all Presidents, both past and present. Many of you will have a three-day weekend off from work, and students also have the day off school. Hope you all enjoy your extra day off.
Reminder that National Random Acts of Kindness Day is this Friday, Feb. 17. I encourage all of you to spread a random act of kindness. I delivered a few small heart shaped boxes of chocolate last week to someone. This evening, I received a nice surprise when Kim Clayton Hearn showed up at my door with a bouquet of fresh flowers and a Valentine box of chocolates. Thank you, Kim, for your kindness, it warmed my heart.
JoAnn Clayton reports that she has a new great-grandchild. Congratulations to the proud parents, Doug and Heather Bartholomew, on the birth of their little bundle of joy. Dutton Brent was born on Feb. 7 and weighed in at seven pounds, 11 ounces. Welcoming him home was his big brothers Ty and Bo and big sister Darby. Grandparents are Pam Durbin and Ken and Michelle Durbin. Great-grandmother is JoAnn Clayton of Hickory Corner, and this is her 31st great-grandchild. Wow! Congratulations to all.
Please remember in prayer Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Peggy Lard, William and Eddie Luttrell and Donna Lynch. Continue to pray for each other, our country, and our world. If you would like to add or remove a name from our prayer list, please call me. I do not like to add a name without permission.
If you would like to rent the HCC Center for a special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159.
