Greetings from Hickory Corner!
Mother’s Day is celebrated this coming Sunday, May 8. If you are lucky enough to still have your mother, I hope you will spend the day with her. If you live far away from your dear mother, then I hope you will call her for a lengthy chat. Whether the mother in your life is your own mother, grandmother or someone who is just like a mom, please reach out to her and remind her how much she means to you. I sure miss my mother and oh how nice it would be to sit down with her and chat just one more time.
JoAnn Clayton and her family attended Homecoming this past Sunday at Old Friendship Baptist Church. Cave Springs Baptist Church will be celebrating their Homecoming this Sunday, May 8. Hearts to Ellna Patterson Roland as she has been busy making beautiful flower arrangements for many of the graves at Cave Springs Cemetery.
Those with May birthdays include Vickie Beshires (5/4), JoAnn Clayton (5/17) and Tonya Clayton (5/30). Happy Belated Anniversary to Phillip and Judy Cranford (5/1). Wishing you all many blessings and happiness on your special day.
Last week was a great week as I enjoyed a visit from my youngest sister Darlene Greene Reese and her husband Mike from Arkansas. I sure enjoyed seeing them as it had been awhile because of the pandemic. Darlene and Mike met while Mike was attending Freed-Hardeman University where he graduated in 1969. You could occasionally hear him back then on the FHU campus radio station. Mike was a businessman for 25 years, Mayor of Nashville, Ark., for eight years and currently is Chamber of Commerce Director. Darlene retired last year after 31 years with American Electric Power Company. They have one son and his wife and three precious grandchildren.
My son Terry is also here visiting. My spring yard cleaning is now complete along with a list of other chores that needed to be done. We went out to supper the last night he was here at El Ranchito and enjoyed some tacos. I will miss him, and I know my lab Ruger will miss hanging with him and following him around all day.
My friend Mary Patterson loves to read and just returned my book, “Run Rose Run,” by Dolly Parton and James Patterson. The nice thing about her returning it is we got to have nice little visit. “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” - Joseph Addison
