with Gloria Holiday

Hello to everyone! It is good to be here with you one more time. For this is the day the Lord has made, so let us be happy in it and take one day at a time. In between the rain drops, people were traveling trying to get to their destination to visit family and friends; some still found a way to grill out with family and enjoyed fireworks at home or in the park. You know many people believe that coronavirus is over. People have died because of complications associated with the virus. It is one’s choice to wear a mask or not. It is better to be safe than sorry. For me and my household, we are wearing the mask everywhere we go.

Congratulations to Apostle Frank M. Holiday, Sr. On Saturday, June 25, at the 28th Annual Gospel Choice Music Awards in Atlanta, Ga., he received a Lifetime Achievement Award. I would like to share with you how and why he won the award: On July 18, 1951, Houston, Texas, welcomed Apostle Frank Mathew Holiday, Sr. onto this earth as the second child and musically gifted son of 10 children to the late Deacon John Andrew Holiday and the late Mrs. Henrietta Holiday Flewellen. It was during his award-winning career in the Marine Corps and Army of more than 20 years that he was also called into the mission field for the Kingdom of God. God called him to ministry in 1979 as an Evangelist under the late Superintendent John Hammond in Oceanside California. It was during this time that he was appointed over the Evangelists’ and Men’s Departments. His ministry witnessed thousands coming to know Jesus Christ as their savior. After being faithful to God’s first assignment in ministry, Apostle Holiday was ordained an elder on June 16, 1984 by the late Jurisdiction Bishop J. A. Blake, Sr. of the Church of God in Christ or C.O.G.I.C., and a couple of years after this ordination, under the direction of the late Jurisdiction Bishop Levi Willis, he was appointed to the regional Minister of Music. This is when God highlighted his musical gifts for the soul-salvation of many. While serving in music through five-fold ministering, God was calling Apostle Holiday to Pastor. He founded and planted local church in Jacksonville, N.C., in the summer of 1988 called The Greater Evangelical Pentecostal C.O.G.I.C., under the leadership of late Jurisdiction Bishop Joseph Howard Sherman. This church proved the calling of God, as this was the first of other global church plantings to follow, like the New Covenant C.O.G.I.C. in Okinawa, Japan, where he also served as the administrative assistant to the late Jurisdiction Bishop Archie Buchannan.
Many sons and daughters have benefited from this ministry; iterations of God’s handiwork, the Word and work of the Lord continues today because the flame of evangelism will never die. On August 6, 1999, after returning from overseas missions and military assignments, the late Jurisdiction Bishop W. L. Porter installed him as pastor to Purdy Mission C.O.G.I.C., in Selmer. Over the next few years, God convicted him to become a non-denominational Pastor. Being obedient to what God desired for him to do, Apostle Holiday became senior pastor and founder of Greater Evangelical Ministries or GEM in a new season of 2014. By his leadership, the ministry paid off the mortgage plus seven acres of the church’s land. To date, more than 50 acres of land have been acquired to build a new house of worship to the Lord. He is a graduate of the International Bible Institute and Seminary, School of Theology, Okinawa, Japan. He studied business management at Mira Costa College, Johnson and Wales, Bethel Union and studied music arts at Texas Southern University, and he is retired from the Tennessee Chester County School System and the U.S. Army National Guard.
