We are having a great week of learning here at East Chester Elementary! After a week and a day off for Spring Break, we are working hard as we wind down this school year!
This past week finished up our One School…One Book program as we said goodbye to Humphrey. We all enjoyed getting to know the students in Mrs. Brisbane’s class through the eyes of their class pet.
This week, kindergarteners are shining! The students are reviewing vowel teams and blending. They are also beginning to learn about finding the main idea and details of a text. In math the students are working with the number 20 and are beginning their unit on subtraction. With it being spring, they are beginning their study on plants.
First graders are learning new things! This week, students are learning about community economics. In math the students are learning all about measurement.
In second grade the students are learning and growing more and more each day! This week, the students are beginning their unit on the War of 1812. They will be researching the who, what, when, where and why of this important but often overlooked event in history. In math the students are learning how to measure in inches, feet and yards.
Third graders are working hard! The students are continuing their study of the human body systems. In math the students will be comparing area and perimeter.
We have just a few reminders as we head into Spring. We will not have school on April 15 in observance of Good Friday. We will begin our TCAP testing the following week. This is only for second and third graders.
As always, it is a great day to be at East Chester Elementary School!
