Congratulations to Mr. Jon Hardin, fifth grade math and science teacher, for receiving the Teacher of the Week for WBBJ. Mr. Hardin has been teaching for over 22 years and has a wonderful relationship with all of his students. He was surprised with WBBJ gifts and a round of confetti in his classroom.

We have started our canned food drive as one of our community service projects, Oct. 24-Nov. 4. Parents should have received a flier with the details. Items will be donated to the Soup Kitchen and Eagles Edge so that our families and community can benefit from the collection. Our school goal is to collect 1,000 cans. The classroom with the most collected will receive a popcorn treat. Students bringing in 10 cans will receive a jeans day and 15 cans will earn a dress down day.
Thank you to our PTS for the classroom supplies. They made a delivery that included tissues, wipes and sanitizers to the classrooms last week. They also treated everyone to a snack for this month’s Fun Friday.
Our Parent Engagement night was this past Tuesday. We had a Reading Roundup. Students dressed in their western attire, and we read books, discussed strategies for parents to use at home, played cornhole and visited the Cactus Cafe. All students should also have received a BINGO card to complete at home if you were unable to attend.
We have awarded our candy sales prizes this week as well. Prizes included: grand prize - a five pound chocolate bar with cash to the top boy and girl, Eagle Bucks, a candy grab, a DJ party, pizza party to the top class, a dress down day, electronic day and water ballooning the principal and assistant principal, and we will end with our Jack’s lunch reward on Nov. 1. Thank you to every family that participated in this fundraiser.
Perfect attendance for October will be recognized on Oct. 31. Students will receive five Eagle Bucks with the opportunity to receive a token for the book machine at the end of the second nine weeks. Please make sure that if your child is absent you call the school office 989-8110 and let us know why they are absent.
