New Friendship & Mifflin Community News

Hello to all from this little corner of the world. Sunday was a beautiful, sunny day with light blue skies and white clouds. We had a red headed woodpecker Saturday on our bird feeder. Our flowers are growing and happy. We still have things to do, but all in good time, right? James is having surgery soon, and we would appreciate prayers for him. We continue to miss our precious Pepper. On Christ the solid rock I stand; all other ground is sinking sand.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones. Prayers sent.
Friendship Baptist Church will have its homecoming this Sunday, 5-3. We will have our new pastor, Sonny Pierce, beginning that day with lunch after the service. Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m. with worship following at 10:30 a.m. Afternoon singing will begin around 1 p.m. with Bob Sellers, former lead singer with The Kingsmen Quartet. Come and enjoy the day with us as we enjoy fellowship and worshipping the Lord.

The poem below is dedicated to all those who have lost loved ones and have sweet memories to help them on this journey of love and loss. Decoration Days are upon us.
“I’m Here” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “I’m here...right here...beside you; I’m everywhere you go/I’m part of every breath you take - and deep inside your soul/I’m closer now than ever...although you may not see/Each day, each hour, each moment - is spent along with me/It’s strange - I never thought that I’d feel closer than before/Your earthly eyes can’t see me - yet I watch through Heaven’s door/It’s even better - where I’m at - Just ‘believe’ God knows what’s best/And when you get to where I am...You’ll understand the rest/Don’t let your ‘earthly’ understanding...Take your joy away/My greatest joy and fondest wish is that you *love* each day/I’m happier than ever --- when I can see your smile/The touch and talking that you miss is gone for just a while/I have it all...I’ve never left…We’ll never be apart/I stand beside you always...and stay within your heart/I used to wonder how it’d be - I wish each of you knew/Heaven makes things perfect - my dreams have all come true.”
