Hello to all from this little corner of the world. Can you believe it? We are into another month. I must say that this past week seemed mighty long! We prepared for the incoming storm as much as possible, as many of you did, I am sure. We had about 12 hours without power and eight hours without internet. We were blessed with gas logs for heat. The propane bill and electric bills will come, but we at least stayed warm. God provides. We stayed home! Our son and grandson ventured out on Tuesday and Wednesday for work. Thankfully, no problems. I am thankful and proud that Braxton, 18 years old, was safe on his travels; this was his first year driving on ice and snow. This ice on top of snow was as hard as a brick. We could stand on it, and no footprints were left. Laiken came up with her family to play in the frozen, icy snow and had a ball sliding down a slope. I am so glad, as I imagine everyone is, to have warmer days and nights ahead. Rain is forecasted, and I look forward to this mess being gone, never to return!
On Sunday, the sun was out, the skies were a pale blue and the temperature was 30 degrees. The birds stayed close to the feeder, and one or two squirrels enjoyed some dropped seeds. It was just too cold to scare them off.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones. Prayers for all. Prayers go out also for ALL Southwest workers, the ones out in the weather trying to correct electrical problems so service could be restored. I have read of two linemen that were injured. One lost an arm, and the other, I think, a hand. It is a very hazardous job. Thanks to those who opened their business to help. Thanks also to firemen, first responders and all that have worked tirelessly to help others during these exasperating days. There were ambulance drivers out on solid ice, along with police officers. We do not know how we will get through difficult trials, but we can know that God is with us and is over all. Prayers go out to those who continue to be without the necessities for comfort and those on the east coast and the snowstorm expected there Sunday. God bless.
Happy belated birthday to Matt Dickey, Jr. and Kirbi Fahs, 1-26; and Alvin Jones, 1-29.
Happy birthday to Piper Fahs, 2-1.
Prayer requests for Doug and Donna Bishop, Bobby Bray, Rachel Ellington, Carolyn Goff, Darren Hatch, Danny Hodges, Pat Nobles Jones and Don Jones, Julia Parchman, Pam Priddy, James Reddin, Anita Rhodes, Nona Seaton, Kathy Seals, Milt and Cheryl Tobey and Mike Young. Also, remember our first responders, military, firefighters and law enforcement officers.
“I hope that the beauty of life will always outshine the chaos of every day. Think of the bumps in the road and the detours, as gentle reminders that sometimes you might have to go through a few storms in order to get to the rainbows. No matter the flow of the day, you will always find joy along the way!” – Debbie Lachin
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You
