It rained Sunday evening and was a little muggy. This next week, the temperatures are supposed to be in the 80s with lows in the 60s. The following week, we go back into the 90s. I just hope we do not have the humidity to go with it. This is the end of summer months, and I am looking forward to fall as I know many of you are. Summer is pretty and so are the other seasons. God knew we needed other seasons to grow crops, control critters and offer us different versions of the beauty He created.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones.
It is very good to have Bro. Glenn back Sunday. Thankfully, he is feeling better. The sermon was good (Romans 2: 17-29). The topic was how things look to us. The thing that is most important is what is on the inside. God has a history of using flawed people. Abraham was too old, Elijah was suicidal, Joseph was abused and Job went bankrupt and had serious health problems. These are just a few of the people God used with flaws. Is it possible to be a Christian and not be religious or be religious and not be a Christian? Think about it (Matthew 23:27). Religious or not, everyone is in need of a Savior. We invite you to come and visit Friendship Baptist anytime. We hope you will leave feeling loved in Christ and fed the Word of the Lord.

“Patience visited me/And reminded me/That good things take time to come to fruition/And grow slowly with stability/Peace visited me/And reminded me/That I may remain calm through the storms of life/Regardless of the chaos surrounding me/Hope visited me/And it reminded me/That I may achieve it/Not by trying to shrink myself and make myself less/But by focusing on serving the world and uplifting those around me/Kindness visited me/And it reminded me/To be more gentle, forgiving and compassionate toward myself/And those surrounding me/Confidence visited me/And it reminded me/To not conceal or suppress my gifts and talents/In order to make others feel more comfortable/But to embrace what makes me me/Focus visited me/And it reminded me/That other people’s insecurities and judgments about me/Are not my problem/And I should redirect my attention/from others back to me/Freedom visited me/And it reminded me/That no one has control over my mindset, thoughts and wellbeing/but me/And love visited me/And it reminded me/That I need not search for it in others/as it lies within me.” -Tahlia Hunter
