Posted

On Monday, May 25, American Legion Post 157 held a remembrance service for Memorial Day at City Hall.
The Master of Ceremonies was Matt Foster. Rev. Paul Boucher gave the invocation and closing prayer. County Mayor Barry Hutcherson and City Mayor Terry Bell proclaimed May 25 as Memorial Day.
The keynote was given by Dexter Phillips. In his speech, he affirmed his gratitude for those who died in service to the United States. He reminded the audience to take care of the veterans in their lives, and reminded the veterans in the audience to lean on their loved ones when they need to do so.
A flag-raising ceremony followed the commemoration service.
In attendance were various city and county officials, as well as State Senator Page Walley.
