Lady Eagles top Henderson Co., finish first in district

Posted

The Chester County Junior High Lady Eagles finished their regular season in style Tuesday night, knocking off Henderson County 5-1 in a rain-soaked district matchup that was eventually cut short by lightning.
The Eagles came out firing in the first half. Shelbie Cross set up Elizabeth Rushing for the opening goal, and Rushing followed with another to give Chester County early momentum. Neveah Jones then found Lucy Deweese for a score before Rushing capped the half with her third goal, sending the Eagles into the break up 4-1.
In the second half, Jones added one of her own to stretch the lead. Henderson County slipped in a goal before the weather ended things early, but the outcome was never in doubt.
The win puts Chester County at 8-2 on the season and locks up the top seed in the district tournament. The Lady Eagles will open postseason play Thursday at home against TCA.
