The Chester County Lady Eagles had a busy start to the week, sweeping Scotts Hill on Monday before falling in a five-set battle against South Side on Tuesday night.
On Monday, the Lady Eagles handled Scotts Hill in straight sets, 25-12, 25-20, and 25-9. After a slow start in the opener, Chester County found its rhythm and cruised the rest of the way. “We started off sluggish in the beginning, but then we were able to settle in,” head coach Emily Ellis said after the win.
Tuesday’s match against South Side was a different story. Chester County came out strong, taking the first set, but dropped the next two as South Side gained momentum. The Lady Eagles stormed back in the fourth set with a dominant 25-6 win, but couldn’t carry that energy into the deciding frame, falling in the fifth.
“We came out on fire and then we kinda died off,” Ellis said. “We struggled in the second and third set. Fourth set we won 25-6 and then fifth set we just kinda crumpled.”
The Lady Eagles will look to regroup as they prepare to host the district tournament the week of October 6–10.
