The Chester County Lady Eagles battled their way through a gritty district tournament week, knocking off Lexington 1–0 in Tuesday’s semifinal before falling by the same score to McNairy Central in Thursday’s championship.
In the semifinal, senior left back Ellie Kate Knoell delivered the game-winner with about 20 minutes to play, while senior defender Kiersten Holley anchored a determined back line that held strong all night.
“Tough, physical game against Lexington,” said head coach Michael Bolton, whose squad showed toughness and composure under pressure.
The title game against McNairy was another defensive slugfest. The Lady Eagles created several chances but couldn’t find the net in a 1–0 loss.
“Girls played hard, but credit to McNairy. They were the better team last night,” Bolton said.
Chester County now turns its attention to the region semifinal at Fairview on Tuesday, Oct. 21, facing one of the top teams in the state.
“It’ll take a great team effort to pull off the upset,” Bolton said. “But I know my girls will put up a fight.
