Lady Eagles drop three games; prepare for holiday tournament

The Chester County High School girls’ basketball team dropped three games this week against Crockett County, Liberty and Scotts Hill.
Chester County opened the week at home on Monday night, Dec. 15, falling to Crockett County by a final score of 51–21. Crockett County jumped out to an early lead, outscoring the Lady Eagles 14–8 in the first quarter and extending the advantage with a 19–4 second quarter to take a 33–12 halftime lead. Chester County continued to battle in the second half but was unable to close the gap.
Makayla Bridges led the Lady Eagles with 7 points, while Alexis Rivers and Kloe Taylor each added 4 points.
The Lady Eagles hit the road Tuesday night, Dec. 16, and were defeated 43–33 at Liberty. Chester County held a 9–4 lead after the first quarter, but Liberty responded with a strong second quarter to take a 21–14 halftime advantage. Liberty continued to build its lead in the third quarter before Chester County closed the game with a competitive fourth quarter.
Esther Osburn led Chester County with 9 points, followed by Savannah Williams and Kloe Taylor with 8 points each.
Chester County closed the week with another road contest Wednesday night at Scotts Hill, falling 40–29. Scotts Hill led 10–3 after the first quarter and held a 21–16 halftime advantage. The Lady Eagles continued to compete, but Scotts Hill extended its lead to 30–20 after three quarters and held on for the win.
Esther Osburn paced Chester County with 8 points, while Kloe Taylor added 7.
The Lady Eagles will return to action December 27–29 when they compete in the Christmas Tournament in Huntingdon.
