On Saturday, June 20, two Juneteenth celebrations took place in Henderson. Betterhood Impact Group held their first annual Father’s Day and Juneteenth Community Barbecue, welcoming the community to have fun and learn about the group, as well as about the history and significance of Juneteenth. There were bounce houses for the kids, as well as food and music. Across town, Oasis CDC held their annual Juneteenth celebration with food, music, and a giveaway. The Oasis CDC event is held each year at North Chester in Lucyville. The property was recently added to the state historical registry as Vincent High School. A special thanks to all sponsors and to City Mayor Terry Bell and County Mayor Barry Hutcherson.
