On March 26, 2026 at approximately 2:38 a.m. Officer Burns with the Henderson Police Department conducted a traffic stop on US Hwy 45 North on a 2001 Ford F-250 for light law violations. The driver was identified as Sedrick Carter of Dekalb, Miss. It was determined his driver’s license was suspended out of Mississippi for a prior DUI. After obtaining probable cause for a search of the vehicle, Officers Haines and Sgt. Hopper did assist Officer Burns.
A backpack was located that contained a set of scales with white residue on it, a clear pipe which contained residue on it and a glass jar which had substance in it believed to be marijuana.
A female passenger, Christi Crosby also of Dekalb, Miss. had in her purse a small metal container and found inside was white powder, a clear baggy that had a clear crystalized material in and another bag that contained a green leafy plant like material. Also in her purse was a wooden type pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana with. One of the items field tested positive for fentanyl, and was weighed at 7.2 grams.
Both were taken into custody. Chief Gary A. Davidson wants to emphasize that Officers with HPD are actively looking for those who chose to violate the laws in our city, no matter the time. “As this stop shows even in the early morning hours, we are working to get illegal drugs and those who use them off the streets,” said Chief Davidson. “Not only were they arrested and charged, we seized their vehicle.” Chief Davidson also wants to remind everyone the dangers of the drug fentanyl, even though 7 grams may not sound like a lot that is a very deadly amount if not handled properly not only to potential users but to Law Enforcement. He continued, “I am thankful we at least got this amount of the streets so it cannot harm anyone.”
Sedrick Carter, age 43, was arrested and charged with violation of light law, violation of the window tint law, two counts possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of schedule VI controlled substance and driving on a canceled/revoked or suspended license. He is held in the Chester County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
