Hello to everyone! Greetings from the City. For this is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. What about you? I am so glad to be an American and to have the freedom we have. Just being able to say, “Thank You, Lord,” is a blessing.  Thank You, Lord, for the new month of June. Can you believe we are in our sixth month of 2026? WOW! June has some very important dates, but before I tell you about them, let me tell you that June 1 was a very special day for a young couple! They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. The 52nd wedding anniversary is a significant milestone that represents the enduring love and commitment between a married couple. This anniversary is traditionally known as the Wisteria Anniversary, symbolizing the timeless beauty and steadfastness of a long-lasting marriage. This special anniversary also commemorates the couple’s shared memories, joys and hardships, and they pray together. The city of Henderson would like to say congratulations to Mr. Ivey and Mrs. Silver Huddleston who were married June 1, 1974. You are an example for so many married couples! We pray the Lord will bless you with many more years together. Remember – like I always say, “Keep the Honey in the Moon!”
Now, did you know that June is the National Candy Month, National Dairy Month and National Iced Tea Month? So, you can eat your candy and drink all the milk and southern tea you would like!
June 6 is D-Day, a day that brings overwhelming memories of the brave men and women who fought a strategically planned and well-executed battle that ultimately led to the end of the Second World War. More than 80 years after the end of World War II, the memories are disappearing from living history. The men and women who fought and won this great conflict are now in their 90s or older; according to US Department of Veterans Affairs statistics, 45,418 of the 16.4 million Americans who served in World War II are alive as of 2025, less than .5% according to The National WWII Museum. The rest of us must look to their legacy and the rich history of events told through museums and memorials. This is a very important date for us to remember and reflect on. Thank you to all the men and women serving our country!
Mrs. Neitha Ross, the City of Henderson would like to say Happy Belated Birthday to you! You celebrated your 89th birthday day on March 27. It is a blessing from the Lord! Continue enjoying your popcorn! We pray that the Lord will keep you in good health and bless you with many more birthdays! Thank you for loving Mrs. Annie Clay and for how you would stop by and visit with her during your morning walk! The Brown children love you!
Happy birthday to Quincy Jones, 6/7. May the Lord bless all of you with many more.
On the prayer list for this week is Amie Croom, Grey Croom, Donnell Harris and James Welch. Please pray for their health.
Continue to pray for the people on the Hill, the U.S.A., the men and women that are serving our country, the incarcerated, first responders and bereaved families everywhere.
Thought for the day: God, please hold us close to Your heart in our ache and give us hope that the hurt will not last forever. With You, “weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5). Amen!
