Hello to my family and friends. This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! It is a blessing to be with you one more day. Was it not a beautiful day on Saturday and Sunday? But when Monday rolled around, it was cold, and we had snowflakes. We had to bring the flowers that we were going to plant in the yard into the house. I am looking forward to spring, and it will be here on Thursday, March 20.
March 20 is also special for another reason. It is the day the Lord sent His angels to pick up another angel, Ms. Annie Clay Brown. This year will be eight years; eight represents a new beginning after the completion or end of a cycle, so the family remembers those wonderful days we had together on this earth. I said that to say this – LOVE family and keep them alive in your heart from the beginning to the end!
Speaking of the heart, Lifeline will hold a blood drive from noon-6 p.m. March 30 in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot in Henderson. Please donate your blood! Hope to see you there!
The city of Henderson would like to say congratulations to our Chester County Senior Center for receiving the Where the Heart Is award. The center is a wonderful and safe place for elderly adults to have fun, eat a wonderful meal, receive valuable information, participate in chair yoga, play BINGO, meet some new friends and so much more! The center is located at 247 E. Main Street, Henderson. For more information about becoming a part of the center, call 989-7434. Jennifer Todd is the Director. She has three beautiful children, was a graduate of Jackson State and is a lifelong resident of Chester County. She became the director of the Center in 2022. Jennifer is doing a great job at the center! Thank you, Jennifer, for making sure the elderly are taken good care of and have a safe place to come! This is what why we celebrate women like Jennifer during Women’s History Month!
There was a big celebration on March 14! There were balloons, food and lots of laughter! Audria Brown Dunn’s husband gave her a big birthday celebration at Dave & Buster’s in Memphis. There were more than 50 family and friends there to help celebrate this beautiful lady (Audria) who is 59 years young! The city of Henderson knows you were surprised and had a wonderful time. Her husband Darrin, thank you for loving your wife because the Bible lets us know, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing,” and you definitely have a good thing! Audria, we pray the Lord will bless you with many more!
Great things are happening on Mondays. Monday, March 22, is the start of spring break for Chester County. Parents, get ready to enjoy your child/children for a week at home; these are precious moments. Do not wish them away. Before you know it, they will be young adults, so get involved with your child/children and enjoy spending time with them while you can. My grandmother told me to enjoy your children while they are on your lap because when they get older and leave the home they will be on your heart. This is what I say all the time!
The city would like to say Happy Birthday our friends in the nursing home and at Southern Oaks Assisting Living. We may not know you by name, but the City prays that the Lord bless you all to see many more birthdays.
Thought for today: “We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live; they travel far.” – Swami Vivekananda
On the prayer list this week: Mr. and Mrs. Lofton, Maria Holiday, the President of the United States, our children, teachers and families, our men and women that are serving our country, our first responders, the incarcerated and anyone you may know that needs prayer.
