Hello to everyone and greetings from the City! I am so glad to be with you again. It is only by the grace of God that we are here, and it is a blessing. For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! I was just thinking about how fast this year has gone by and how the Lord has watched over the people here in Tennessee! Yes, there have been some sad days in our life, but, as I have said this before, no matter what life brings us we always have something to be glad about. Do not worry about what we do not have but be happy for what we do have. While you are reading this article, stop and take a moment to pray for the families that are homeless or have no food, for the thousands of U.S. Troops who are away from home for the holidays and for the mom and dad who do not know where their child or loved one is. I think about the families that have been separated from their loved ones for whatever reason. Let us think about those families when some of us are worrying about what we do not have. We are so blessed!
This month is a special month. It is the month that we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Let us keep the love of Christ shed abroad in our hearts as we spread that love to others. Let us remember those hurting or less fortunate than us and reach out a kind, helping hand to those in need. Sometimes, all it takes is a kind word, small gesture or a lovely smile to brighten someone’s day. So let us remember others.
The City would like to say thank you to the Chester County Democratic Party for delivering Christmas fruit basket to the County elected official office. We live in this county together, and we love each other!
The City of Henderson would like to say congratulations to our young children here in Chester County. We are so proud of you! A BIG SHOUT OUT to one of them, Laurie Smith. She is a student at East Chester Elementary School. Laurie read two million words this year. WOW, that is a blessing! I know her parents, Charlie and Ashley Smith, plus so many more family and friends are proud of her as well. Did I forget to tell you that Laurie is a third grader? This lets me know that all parents are not just allowing their children just to play video games or always be on their cell phone! Great job, Laurie!
Wedding bells sounded on Dec. 5! There were two lovely people that said, “I love you. I will stay with you through the good times and through the hard times. Until death do us part. I do.” This couple has been married for 55 years! The City of Henderson would like to acknowledge this couple! Happy 55th wedding anniversary to one of the most loving and sweetest couples, Steve and Ethel Croom. You have encouraged and shown so many other couples what it takes to be married and stay married. Your children love you so much, and so do we! You all are blessed and like I always say, “KEEP THE HONEY IN THE MOON!”
The city would like to say congratulations to Martin and Bianca Hensley for the birth of their baby girl, Millie Jo Hensley!
On the Birthday list this week: my daughter Maria Holiday, 12/22, and my grandson Frank Holiday, 12/26. He will be four years old. We pray the Lord will bless you with many more!
On the prayer list this week: Valerie Griggs is requesting prayer for her sister Diana Ross and also for Jerome Thomas. Do not forget our loved ones that are in the hospitals, those sick in their homes, our children, teachers and families and the men and women that are serving our country. Remember to pray for our United States of America.
Do not forget to patronize with our local businesses here in town during this holiday season; let us try to support our own as much as we can. If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements and things happening in the city, I need to hear from you! Call or text me 731-608-6132.
