Greetings! I am glad to be with you for another week. It is only by the grace of our Lord and Savior. For this is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it! Hi to family and friends from all around! I want you to know how much I appreciate you. You take time out of your busy schedule to read our hometown paper. Without you, there would not be a Chester County Independent!
On Sept. 26-28, my family went to Houston, Texas, for the Holiday Family reunion. It was a wonderful road trip. We had so much fun with family! Our oldest auntie, Aunt Helen, is 89 years young. We sat and visited with her. She told us how she and Frank, Sr., her nephew, grew up. The stories she shared with the family about the family history were very interesting. It is always good to know where you came from, but it is also good to know where you are going!
To our daughter, LaWanna, thank you for being the daughter you are. Thank you for loving your parents so much! You come down on weekends to help your father on the farm, and you call and check on us to make sure we are doing well. Thank you for driving us to Texas and back to Tennessee! Words cannot express how much we love you! Exodus 20:12 states, “Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you”; and in Ephesians 6:2-3, it says,”Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with a promise “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” There is one statement that LaWanna said to us that was so funny. She said, “Mom and Dad, it is hard raising parents!”
Last weekend, the Henderson/Chester County Chamber of Commerce kicked off its 47th Annual Chester County BBQ Festival. It was a great event. The City of Henderson and the surrounding counties would like to say thank you to Blake Hopper, the Board of Chamber and the staff for an outstanding festival this year. Keep up the great work! I heard this year was larger than last year!
Our condolences go to the family of Mrs. Shirley Ann Williams Welch family. She was the wife of the late Mr. Bruce Welch of Henderson. Mrs. Shirley loved people and did not mind taking care of them. Mrs. Shirley will be missed and never forgotten. Visitation is from 10 a.m.-noon Oct. 4 at Cool Springs Baptist Church, 306 Harmon St. Henderson.
Our condolences go to the family of Ms. Margaret “Maudie” Trice. She will be missed. She was a woman that loved her family, especially those grandbabies. She loved to do for others. The City of Henderson is praying for the family!
The City of Henderson would like to send our deepest sympathy to all families that have lost a loved one.
On the prayer list this week is Mr. Lofton, Mr. Stanley Croom, Ms. Maria Holiday, the Rush family, the Welch family, the Trice family and the McNatt family. Pray for our loved ones that are in the hospitals, for the ones that are sick in their homes, for our children, teachers and families and for the men and women that are serving our country.
Thought for today: Others may speak into our lives. But Jesus has the final say! He covers the lies with love! May He heal us and help us to believe!
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
