Hello to everyone! As always, it is good to be here with you for another week and a new day. I count it a blessing. For this is the day our Lord and Savior has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
This weekend, I received the news that the Lord has called my dear friend Margaret home to be with Him. I was saddened, but I do know the Lord does not make mistakes! Our condolences go to the Locke Family. Mrs. Margaret Locke was a strong, little woman with a big heart who dearly loved her family, friends and animals. She was full of humor and joy. I remember many times when she and Larry were cleaning the SWHRA building we would laugh and tease about Larry not doing his job, and she would say, “I am going to get the swipe out on him so he can get it done.” She loved sharing pictures of her dogs and horse, and I will never forget the photo of her on that big motorcycle. I told her, “You’re too little to be on something that big!” We shared so many wonderful memories through the years I have been working here at SWHRA. Mrs. Margaret was my friend as well as a friend to so many others. On behalf of myself and all the employees of SWHRA, we will deeply miss seeing Mrs. Margaret, yet her spirit will live on in the many good memories we shared together. We are keeping Mr. Larry and her daughter, Summer, whom she loved so much, in our prayers. Mrs. Margaret will be missed, but she will never be forgotten.
The city would like to say, “Happy 50 years of marriage to Mr. Jerry Wilson and Mrs. Shirley (Prather) Wilson!” They celebrated on Aug. 8. A 50th wedding anniversary is often called the golden anniversary and represents a long and enduring love, shared experiences and commitment. It is a milestone marked by the precious metal gold, symbolizing the strength, wisdom and enduring nature of the relationship.
Mr. Jerry, I am sure you knew that when you married Ms. Shirley 50 years ago you had married a precious jewel! Happy belated wedding anniversary to Mr. Jerry and Mrs. Shirley. Congratulations! As I always say, remember to keep the honey in the moon! It just gets sweeter and sweeter as the years go by! We LOVE you.
The city would like to wish Mr. Larry Kelly a belated happy birthday on 8/11. Belated Happy birthday wishes also go to my nephew Mr. Cliff Brown on 8/18 and my great-nephew Mr. Justin Barham 8/12. He will be 16 years old. Ms. Phyllis Massengill celebrated her birthday on 8/13, and Ms. Tapeka Wilson’s birthday was on 8/19. May the Lord bless you with many more to come. If you get a chance, wish them all a Happy Birthday or just let them know you love them!
On the prayer list this week: Amie Croom, the Locke family and our Unite States of America! We need your prayers and the help of the Lord! Please be in prayer for our local and federal government, police department, doctors and the sick and shut-in.
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
