Hello to everyone! It is me again, giving God the praise to be here with you one more week. First things first, thank you, Lord, for another month and a new day – one that we have never seen before. For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad.
To Mark Barber, chairman of the park board, thank you! The playground at Gene Record Park looks phenomenal! The families in the surrounding area have a wonderful place to go and have fun with their children. Now all we need is the community pool! The city would like to say thank you!
To everyone that is reading this column, please take a moment of your time to pray for all of the families that lost their children during the floods.
The city would like to say congratulations to Frank Holiday, Jr. and his wife Raffi. They are expecting a little bundle of joy in January. We pray the baby will be healthy.
To Jackie Arnold Brow and family, it was deeply saddening to hear of your family member passing. Angela Carter was a sister, mother, auntie and a friend to everyone; she was such a great inspiration to many. Our condolences go out to the family.
Very special Happy Birthday wishes from a very special lady, Mrs. Gritie Arnold, to her family. Her husband, Mr. James Arnold, turned 85 year young on July 11; Mr. Earvin Arnold, her brother-in-law, will be 75 years young on July 27; her son, Mr. Tobias Arnold, will be 51 years old on July 24; her granddaughter, Sidney Arnold, will turn five years old on July 21; granddaughter, Brittany Johnson, turned 22 on July 10; and great-granddaughter, Lydia Arnold, will be 11 years old on July 29. Wait! I am not finished with the Arnold family. Mrs. Gritie, you are such a loving, sweet person. Thank you for allowing me to share some great memories that I had about my mother and father. The city is wishing you a very happy birthday on July 19; this lovely lady will be 84 years young.
The City also would like to wish happy birthdays to Margaret Bond, July 4; Sylvia Jones Jonson, July 5; Charity Massengill, July 5; Henrietta Kellum Lusk, July 5; Bridget Welch, July 6; Edna Johnson, July 8; Regina Kennedy, July 9; and Tania Hall, July 9. We pray the Lord will bless all of you with many more.
On the prayer list this week is Ms. Mary K. Harris who is in Spire Rehab across from Jackson-Madison County General Hospital; Ms. Allene Holly Johnson from Jacks Creek who has lived at Henderson Healthcare for several years. She was 101 this past June. She is with short-term care now. God bless her; and Mrs. Faye Scales who is the wife of Mr. Carter Scales. Stephanie Ballard, the daughter of Faye, wrote this and touched my heart: “My momma is my best friend. She has a heart that is so full of love. She is a woman of GOD. A great mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife. She is fighting, and she shall win this battle! Her life is in GOD’S hand. We shall not worry, but we shall pray that GOD heals her whole body and make her heart stronger.”
