Hello to everyone! For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! Thank you, Lord, for another month and a new day, one that we have never seen before. I hope you had a great week and enjoyed your fourth of July weekend! Yes, we made it back from our Alaskan cruise. We had a wonderful time! We celebrated our daughters’ birthday while we were in Alaska. We made it back on July 3. Can you believe we were on land, air and sea? Thank the Lord for safe traveling! Our oldest and younger daughter traveled with us. LaWanna said that she was parent sitting and that it is very hard to raise parents. You know we laughed! But we had a wonderful time!
For my husband and I, July 3 is a very special day for us. This is the day the Lord blessed us with our fourth child LaWanna (July 3, 1987). Her birthday is a blessing to us because this is another year the Lord has allowed her to be with us. Our daughter is a survivor from cancer! She goes every year for her checkups, and every time she goes to the doctor, it is a good report! Many of you may remember when I shared with you in 2021 that she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Yes! Our LaWanna has had some hard and sick days! But LaWanna is now doing great! Her heart is strong, and the Lord is blessing her. This young lady is a blessing, and her faith in the Lord is phenomenal! She is 38 years old this year. To God be the Glory!
This year, we celebrated two days because our son Captain Frank Holiday, Jr. (US Army) surprised us on the Fourth by making his appearance. My family and I will always give the Lord praises for healing LaWanna’s body and enjoy the time we have together as a family. Today is a new day; I hope you take some time out of your day and tell your family how much you love them because tomorrow never comes.
Now the month of June is gone, and July has arrived! The month of July marks the midway point of the year. It is also considered a month of fun! Here are a few things you can celebrate. For those of you who love their fur babies and have a cat, July 10 is National Kitten Day so celebrate those cute, cuddly little balls of energy and love. If you are a crier and love to cry, July 10 is also International Town Criers Day; for those who have cows, like us, July 11 is Cow Appreciation Day!
Last week was a very busy week for SWHRA Head Start department. June 30 was the first day back for the Specialists, Area Managers, Site Managers and Family Advocates from their six-week break. They are taking applications for 3- and 4-year-old children for the 2025-26 school year. Children must be three or four years old by August 15, 2025. For more information, call 989-5192 or 989-5111.
There is a couple who has been married 33 years as of July 9. I know him as Larry, but you may know him as Henry Brown. He is a bus driver for the Chester County school system and has been for many years. Thank you for picking up our children for school and retuning them back home to us safely! Jackie Brown is his lovely wife. The City of Henderson would like to say, “Happy Anniversary!” We pray the Lord will bless you with many more. As I always say, “Keep the honey in the moon!”
Well, we have another pioneer that has gone to be with the Lord! Mrs. Joyce Barham was one of the pioneers of Henderson. I can remember her for many years when she brought her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to Head Start. She was a hardworking woman, and she took care of her family. Our condolences go to her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other family members. The City of Henderson loves you and we are praying for you!
On the prayer list this week: the Barham family, the Harris family, the Atkin family, the Walker family, the Stackens family, and so many others! Continue to pray for the sick and shut-in, our children, our teachers, our country, our soldiers, our police officers and anyone and everyone you know that needs prayer.
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can. If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Text me at 608-6132. Thank you for reading this little column! I love you!
Thought for today: “In every circumstance of our lives we still have the same Savior. The One who loves us! The One who knows us! The One whose promises never fail!”
HAVE A GREAT WEEK AND BE SAFE!
