Hello to everyone! Greetings from the City. The very first thing I would like to say is THANK YOU, Lord, for allowing us to see another week! For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad! The second thing I would like to say this week is THANK YOU, readers, for taking the time to buy and read the Chester County Independent.
Well, high school graduation has come and gone! It is one of the most exciting days in students’ lives. The City would like to say congratulations to our Chester County High School Class of 2025. You are a conqueror! To be a conqueror is tremendous. Conquer means “to triumph, to overcome, to win, to succeed or to be victorious.” The class of 2025 has shown that the victory is theirs. You have made history, and the future is in your hands. Just remember that the future is waiting for you.
Congratulations to Mrs. Pasty Doyle, who will soon retire from the Chester County Board of Education. So many of us will miss that friendly smile and warm personality! May your retirement be filled with happiness, health, joy, relaxation and adventure!
The City of Henderson would like to welcome a new restaurant in town – SHAKER’S GRAB & GO. We are glad to have you in town and may you be successful!
Memorial Day will be observed on May 26 this year. The holiday is dedicated to honoring the lives of U.S. soldiers and military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. This day serves as a reminder of their bravery and sacrifice. Memorial Day remembers all wars and conflicts in which American soldiers have fought, recognizing approximately three million service members who have been killed or wounded or are still missing in action. While many people celebrate this day with family gatherings, barbecues, and outings, it is essential to remember the true purpose of Memorial Day.
The American Legion Davidson-Haltom Post 157 in Henderson will host ceremonies to pay tribute to these heroes. The event will take place on Memorial Day at 11 a.m. in the Council Chambers of Henderson City Hall, located at 121 Crook Ave Henderson, TN. The program will feature a guest speaker who will honor the sacrifices made during the American Revolution. Hope you will be able to attend.
Happy Birthday shouts to Byron McNeal, 5/29; Emori Burton, 5/29; Katherine Armstrong, 5/29; and Susie Hemby, 5/30. Happy belated birthday to my brother Dexter Brown on 5/11. May the Lord bless all of you with many more!
Continue to pray for people that are in the hospitals, for the ones that are sick in their homes, for our children, teachers and families, for the men and women that are serving our country, for the incarcerated and for bereaved families everywhere.
As I leave you, please be safe and stay protected. Remember to TRUST in the LORD! He said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” That is a promise of God’s unwavering presence and support!
