Hello from Enville! I hope you all are having a great week. The temperatures have cooled down this week, and I am sure everyone is enjoying it. Sitting outside in the mornings drinking our coffee and watching our hummingbirds zoom around has been pleasant.
August is gone, and our Enville Wild Goose Shindig 2023 is history. We had a great turnout for it; the weather was great, and our firefighters cooked all afternoon. They got a little hot, but said they made it fine with the big fan blowing. Everyone worked hard to make it go as planned. We all enjoyed the great food, the silent auction, cakewalk, snow cones, music and fellowship. We want to thank Bubba Edgin for your help! Thanks to Lance Beshires and Deborah for coming and supporting us. Also, thanks to Justin and Jenifer Emerson along with their son, Jesse. We all had fun watching Jesse win cakes at the cakewalk. It was his lucky night! They donated some back to be walked again, and he won the same cake twice. I guess it was meant for him to take that one home! Casey O’Neal was excited to win a cake also. We love watching everyone win, especially the kiddos! I should have had them walking for me because I did not win any. The community club and the fire department want to say THANK YOU to everyone for making our fundraiser a great success!
September is here, and the Labor Day holiday is Monday, Sept. 4. Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late 19th century when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity and well-being (www.dol.gov). Today, Labor Day is a federal holiday where most people have the day off from work, and schools are out; it is unofficially the last holiday of the summer. Many celebrate the weekend with family barbeques, parades, festivals and fireworks, camping and boating. However you all celebrate, I hope you have a fun and safe holiday weekend!
Happy birthday wishes go to Brenda Essary, Stan O’Neal and Gerald Russom on Sept. 2, Steven Grisham on Sept. 4 and Mason Weeks on Sept. 7. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
