Hello from Enville! September is gone, and October has arrived. I am so thankful for the cooler temperatures. September was the hottest one on record. As we all know, our summer was so hot, and I hope that is not a sign of what winter will be like. I have heard conflicting predictions, and I have seen spoons in the split persimmons, which means we will shovel snow. I can handle that better than the ice. I am hoping for a mild winter!
I am happy to say that the farmers have gotten many of their crops harvested, and the yields are very good. The Lord blessed them with great weather for planting, plowing, spraying and gathering. They are still out and about going from field to field, so watch out for them! The hay crops have done very well also! I love seeing those perfectly round bales lying in the fields, and there are many to see! Rain would be nice as it is so dry in and around Enville.
We are seeing fall decorations in some yards and businesses. I am always looking as I love fall colors and colorful mums. I have gotten the inside of our house decorated and started on the outside. I have not gotten any mums yet, so maybe they will last till Thanksgiving.
I am glad the Barbecue Festival was a success. So much work goes into an event such as this. They are probably already working on next year’s.
Happy birthday wishes go to our granddaughter, Reece Collins, and Shirley Bishop on Oct. 3 and Doug Pickett on Oct. 4. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
Please pray for all who have lost loved ones and pray for Harold Maness, Robert Smith, Robert Johnson, Tommy and Linda Wade, James Vinson, Harold and Carolyn Wright, Rick and Julie Ooley, Mary Lou Avent, Ann Pugh, Shirley Hampton, Della Mixon, Kaye Killingsworth, Gerald and Phyllis Russom, Mildred Goodwin, Anita Needler, Joan Massey, Baby Maven Vaughn, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, military, schools and school board, our county and country and, as always, each other.
Remember – this is the day that the Lord has made; rejoice and be glad in it. There is always something to be thankful for every day!
Have a blessed week everyone!
