Hello from Enville! I hope you all are having a great week. We have two hummingbirds so far and are patiently waiting on the rest. I have my four feeders up and ready. We are having trouble keeping our other bird feeders filled; just as soon as we get them filled, here come the blackbirds. Someone called them cow birds. Whatever they are, they will not leave until the feeders are empty. I do not like that our other birds can not eat from them. We have a pretty, deep red cardinal that comes every morning to visit us while we sit outside drinking our coffee. We also have blue birds that visit our birdhouse several times a day. I guess you could say we are avid bird watchers!
May 9 will be our annual Enville Volunteer Fire Department Barbecue in downtown Enville. They will have barbecue pork, chicken and bologna. Ribs are pre-order only. See or contact any member of the fire department to purchase your tickets. This event starts at 10 a.m. until sold out. Get there early to ensure you get food! They will cook two hogs, three cases of chicken, five sticks of bologna and 100 racks of ribs (for pre-order). Sometimes they are sold out as early as 11 a.m. Come on down and get your Mother’s Day meal as well as delicious baked goods. Mom will appreciate it!
One of our past Enville Community Club Scholarship recipients, Brielle Dennis-Grant, was inducted into Mississippi State University’s Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest and most prestigious academic honors organization in the United States, founded in 1776, recognizing exceptional academic excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. Mississippi State’s Gamma of Mississippi Chapter, charted in 2019, inducts only about 10 % of the top liberal arts and sciences graduates each year, making this meaningful among more than 30,000 students. Brielle will be graduating this year with a bachelor’s degree in public relations, and her induction into Phi Beta Kappa is a true statement of her hard work, dedication and academic achievement. Congratulations, Brielle! We are happy we were a part of your further education!
