Hello from Enville! I hope everyone is having a great week. We got some much-needed rain early in the week. Now we are having fall like weather, and I am loving it. We only have two hummingbirds hanging around. I read to leave a feeder out until the middle of October, and that is almost here. I have taken two down, cleaned up and put away, and I will take the other two down soon.
Danny and I enjoyed our weekend at the camper. The weather was perfect. We went fishing on Saturday; we did not catch anything but had a good time out on the water. We are ready to go back! Annie Massengill and Nita Middleton have been enjoying going to singings. They have heard the Inspirations and other groups on a couple occasions. They even get some shopping in on their trips.
The Enville Volunteer Fire Department will have a fish fry and cakewalk fundraiser at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the community center. All-you-can eat fish or chicken and trimmings will be served. Bring a cake and take one or two home with you. Hope to see you all in Enville!
Columbus Day is Oct. 13. This is a federal holiday, which officially celebrates the anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s arrival in the Americas. He went ashore at Guanahani, an island in the Bahamas on Oct. 12, 1492, (Wikipedia). If you have the day off work, I hope you enjoy it! Oct. 13 is also the birthday of the U.S. Navy. National Boss Day is Oct. 16, so let your boss know that you appreciate him or her throughout the year!
Happy birthday to Wayne Poupard and Ricky Holder on Oct. 14, Judy Pugh on Oct. 15 and Robert Smith on Oct. 16. Happy anniversary to our daughter and son-in-law, April and Kelley Collins, on Oct. 14. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
Please pray for Harold Maness, Robert Smith, Robert Johnson, Mary Lee Guyon, Mary Lou Avent, Ann Pugh, Shirley Hampton, Della Mixon, Kaye Killingsworth, Nancy Philyaw, Jimmy Robertson, Jeff Finley, Glen Butts, Tommy Wade, James Vinson, Rick Ooley, Mike Lott, Mike Finley, Mitchell Willis, all who have lost loved ones, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, military, schools and school board, our county and country and, as always, each other.
