Hello from Enville! I am loving this cooler weather and lower humidity as I am sure everyone is! It is so nice, sitting outside in the mornings, drinking our coffee, watching our hummingbirds and listening to all the birds sing. I suppose the hummers will be thinning out soon as they begin their long journey south. When ours finally came, boy, did they come. About 20 or so are here. They keep me busy, filling their feeders. I know we will miss them when they are gone!
The Enville Volunteer Fire Department and Community Club wants to thank everyone for making our shindig a success. We all had a great time, and the food, activities and fellowship were wonderful. Our entertainment, Lakelin Lemmings, was awesome; she has a record deal now, and we wish her well with that. She will go far with her talent and personality! Again, thanks to everyone who supported us in every way and thanks to the workers for their dedication to this fundraiser!
I hope everyone has a fun and safe Labor Day holiday. It is the last holiday of the summer. It is a time of fun, cookouts, swimming, camping, boating and spending time with family and friends. It is a federal holiday in the U.S. that recognizes the American labor movement and the contributions of workers to the developments in the United States (Wikipedia).
Happy birthday wishes go to Stan O’Neal, Brenda Essary and Gerald Russom on Sept. 2 and Jonathan Timmer and Steven Grisham on Sept. 4. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
Please pray for the family of Phil Smothers and continue prayers for Robert Johnson, Harold Maness, Robert Smith, Mary Lee Guyon, Mary Lou Avent, Ann Pugh, Shirley Hampton, Della Mixon, Kaye Killingsworth, Nancy Philyaw, Jimmy Robertson, Jeff Finley, Glenn Butts, Mike Finley, Karl Starnes, Randall Weeks, all who have lost loved ones, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, military, schools and school board, our county and country and, as always, each other.
If you have news to share or someone to add to the prayer list, call me at 608-3058, or if you want to rent the community center, call Pat Cates at 688-5125 or 315-8062.
