Eaglettes stay alive with win over Hardin County before falling to McNairy in district tournament

The Chester County Eaglettes kept their season going Tuesday night with a 7-3 win over Hardin County in the District Tournament at Hardin County before their postseason run came to an end Thursday with a loss to McNairy Central.
Facing elimination against Hardin County, the Eaglettes responded with one of their more complete games of the tournament.
Chester County got on the board in the first inning when Jillian Patterson drove in a run with a groundout. Hardin County answered in the second and briefly grabbed a 2-1 lead after a two-run single by Phillips.
The Eaglettes answered right back in the bottom half of the inning. Addy Parker delivered a two-run single to put Chester County back in front, 3-2.
Chester County added to the lead in the third inning. Patterson singled home a run, Aayla Howell brought in another with a groundout, an error plated another run, and Leura Rowsey added an RBI groundout as the Eaglettes stretched the lead.
Patterson earned the win in the circle, allowing three runs over four innings, while Parker came on in relief and shut the door. Parker tossed three scoreless innings without allowing a hit and struck out three.
Brentlee Burgess spark-ed the offense from the leadoff spot, going 3-for-3 at the plate. Georganna Pickens added two hits, while Patterson drove in two runs.
The win advanced Chester County to another elimination game Thursday against McNairy Central, with a spot in the championship round on the line.
McNairy Central proved tough to slow down as the Lady Bobcats claimed a 10-0 victory to end the Eaglettes’ season.
McNairy got on the board early with a solo home run in the first inning and added another run in the second after an error.
The Lady Bobcats extended the lead in the third on a two-run homer before breaking the game open with a five-run fifth inning.
Addy Parker started in the circle for Chester County and struck out five over three innings.
Leura Rowsey recorded the Eaglettes’ lone hit of the game.
Chester County finishes the season at 20-20 after battling through the district tournament and posting a 3-2 record in postseason play.
