The Chester County Eaglettes came up just short in a pair of games last week, falling 5-4 on Thursday and 11-10 on Friday.
Thursday’s game was a tight battle that went down to the final inning.
Chester County jumped out early when Reece Collins drew a bases-loaded walk in the first inning to score the game’s first run. Karsyn Knipper added an RBI single in the third inning to extend the Eaglettes’ lead.
The game remained close throughout. In the top of the seventh inning, Knipper delivered again with a single that tied the game at 4-4.
Chester County finished with eight hits in the game, with Knipper leading the way with two.
The Eaglettes were back on the field Friday night and nearly pulled off a late comeback before falling 11-10 in another high-scoring contest.
Trailing heading into the sixth inning, Chester County rallied with five runs. Addison Newland sparked the inning with a two-run double, Georganna Pickens followed with a two-run single and Bethann Burgess added a sacrifice fly.
Pickens led the Eaglettes at the plate, going 3-for-3 on the night, while Newland drove in two runs. Chester County also worked the count well, drawing five walks.
Addy Parker started the game in the circle, and Jillian Patterson came on in relief, striking out six over four innings.
