The Chester County Eagles gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about on senior night Tuesday, pulling out a 54–45 overtime win over rival Lexington before closing the regular season with road trips to North Side, South Side and McNairy Central.
The Lexington game was tight from start to finish. The two teams traded slim leads early, with Lexington up 9–8 after the first quarter and 23–21 at the half. Chester County stayed within reach and trailed 33–31 heading into the fourth quarter.
Late in the third quarter, senior Jaden Williams delivered the moment of the night, throwing down a dunk at the buzzer that sent the student section into a frenzy and swung the momentum back to the Eagles. Chester County carried that energy into the fourth quarter and tied the game at 41–41.
Elam Murphy had a good look at a potential game-winner at the end of regulation but the shot came up short, sending the game to overtime.
The Eagles took control in overtime behind their defense. Chester County allowed just one field goal, with Lexington’s other two points coming at the free-throw line. Murphy knocked down a clutch 3 with 40 seconds left to push the lead to 52–45, and Lane Estes sealed the win by hitting two free throws in the final seconds.
Williams led the Eagles with 21 points. Murphy followed with 19, including five 3-pointers, while Estes finished with 11 points.
Chester County followed the senior night win with a tough road game at North Side on Thursday, falling 81–31. North Side jumped out early and never let up. Williams led Chester County with 9 points, Murphy scored 8 with two 3-pointers, and Estes added 7.
The Eagles were back on the road Saturday at South Side and dropped a 67–30 decision. Williams again led the Eagles with 13 points. Braylin Robinson scored 4 points, while Murphy and Jasce Alexander added 3 points each.
Chester County closed the regular season Tuesday night at McNairy Central, falling 52–37. The Eagles were tied 10–10 after the first quarter and held a 17–16 lead at halftime. Chester County stayed within striking distance through three quarters, trailing 34–32, before McNairy Central pulled away in the final period.
Williams led the Eagles with 22 points in the regular-season finale. Jaden Weaver added 9 points, knocking down three 3-pointers, while Murphy finished with 4.
