The Chester County Eagles opened their 2025–2026 basketball season with a pair of road games this week, earning a win at Trinity Christian Academy on Tuesday before falling at Jackson Christian on Saturday night.
Chester County held off TCA 47–43 in the season opener, using a strong second quarter to take control of the game. The Lions led 12–11 after the first period, but the Eagles answered with a 15–4 run in the second to carry a 26–16 lead into halftime. Chester County pushed the margin to 37–26 by the end of the third quarter and weathered a late TCA surge to secure the four-point win.
After the game, Coach Johnson said he was proud of the way his young group handled the moment. “This was the first time many of them had been under those kinds of lights, and I’m glad they rose to the occasion,” he said. “It was a culture-type win. We’ll enjoy it, but now it’s time to focus on the next one.”
The Eagles returned to action Saturday at Jackson Christian, where JCS used a fast start to take control early and went on to win 60–28. Jackson Christian led 13–7 after one quarter and stretched the advantage to 38–18 by halftime. The Eagles continued to battle in the second half but couldn’t overcome the early deficit.
Coach Johnson said the game was another learning experience for his young roster. “We just gotta get better,” he said. “Our inexperience showed tonight.”
Chester County will look to regroup this week as it continues the early stretch of its non-district schedule.
