Eagles pull away late to beat McNairy Central

Posted

Chester County broke things open late Monday night, scoring eight runs over the final two innings to pull away for an 8-2 win over McNairy Central.
For much of the night, it was a tight ball game. McNairy Central struck first with a run in the third, and the Eagles couldn’t get anything going early. That changed in a big way in the fifth.
Chester County pushed across five runs in the inning to take control, then added three more in the sixth to put the game out of reach.
Lane Estes led the way on the mound and at the plate. The right-hander went the distance, striking out 10 while allowing just two runs. He also helped his own cause with a pair of hits and two RBIs.
Ethan Rhodes delivered one of the biggest swings of the night, driving in three runs, while Elam Murphy added a hit and scored a run. Heath Stewart and Jaden Weaver also knocked in runs as the Eagles spread the offense around.
Defensively, Chester County was steady all night, playing error-free baseball behind Estes.
