The Chester County Junior High boys’ basketball team put together a strong week, earning wins over Whiteville on Monday and TCA on Thursday.
Eagles 51, Whiteville 38 – Monday (Eighth Grade Night)
Monday’s game was also Eighth Grade Night, and the Eagles gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about. After trailing 7–6 at the end of the first quarter, Chester County settled in and took a 17–15 lead at halftime. The Eagles pulled away in the third, building an 11-point cushion going into the fourth.
The highlight of the night came in the closing seconds. With Whiteville trying to score, Chester County came up with a clean block on the defensive end, pushed the ball up the floor and finished with a layup right as the buzzer sounded to seal the 51–38 win.
Eagles 39, TCA 21 – Thursday at TCA
On Thursday, the Eagles traveled to Trinity Christian Academy and controlled the game from the opening tip. Chester County led 13–5 after one quarter and held TCA to just one point in the second to take a 23–6 lead into halftime. The Eagles continued to extend the margin in the third and finished the night with a 39–21 victory.
Chester County now gets ready for its final regular-season game on Thursday, Dec. 11, at home against TCA. The Eagles will then prepare for the Best of the West tournament the following week.
