Eagles light up scoreboard in 75-8 win

Posted

The Chester County Eagles wasted no time setting the tone in their season opener Friday night, rolling to a commanding 75-8 victory over Memphis East.
Quarterback Ethan Burks ignited the night’s scoring on the opening drive, corralling a bad snap and taking it 33 yards to the end zone. With Linkin Phillips adding the extra point, the Eagles led 7-0 less than two minutes into the game. The defense quickly joined the highlight reel as Jayden Williams sacked the quarterback for a seven-yard loss, forcing an early punt.
Burks then found Williams through the air for a seven-yard touchdown to stretch the lead to 14-0. Moments later, Robby Goodman pounced on a fumble to give the Eagles possession at the 11-yard line. Jordan Hunt powered his way into the end zone on the next play, and the rout was on.
Heath Stewart and Braylin Robinson added touchdowns before Robinson capped the first quarter with a scoop-and-score off a blocked punt. By the end of the first 12 minutes, the scoreboard read 42-0.
The second quarter brought more fireworks as Stewart, Jaden Weaver, and freshman quarterback Grayson Stewart each found the end zone. The Eagles’ defense remained suffocating, and Chester County headed into halftime with a commanding 63-0 advantage.
With a running clock in the second half, the JV unit took the field but continued the onslaught. Freshman Izaiah Armstrong and Johntae’ McNeal both added a touchdown as the Eagles finished with 75 points on the night, while the defense held Memphis East to a lone fourth-quarter score.
Head Coach Dewond Johnson praised his team’s effort but emphasized the work still to come:
“We did some things better but we must keep improving. This Friday will be a good test for us to see where we are at. We need all our Eagle fans to travel with us and take over the stadium and make some noise.”
The Eagles (1-0) will look to carry their momentum into next week’s matchup as they travel to Adamsville.
