Eagles fall to South Side on Homecoming

Posted

The Chester County Eagles ran into a tough South Side squad Friday night, dropping their Homecoming game 35–3.
Both defenses came out strong, keeping things scoreless through the first quarter. South Side broke through midway through the second, putting together three quick touchdowns before halftime to go up 21–0. The Hawks added another score early in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 28–0.
Quarterback Jaden Weaver went down with an injury early in the fourth quarter, bringing freshman quarterback Grayson Stewart and backup long snapper Hudson Lewis into the game. Despite the tough circumstances, the Eagles kept fighting. Linkin Phillips got Chester County on the board with a 47-yard field goal at the 8:57 mark of the fourth quarter. South Side added one more touchdown late to make the final 35–3.
Injuries have been a major hurdle for the Eagles this season, forcing several younger players into bigger roles. Still, the team continues to show effort and determination week after week.
Head Coach Dewond Johnson said after the game, “I thought we played harder and had some positives happen. Found another long snapper. Very beneficial for the future.”
The Eagles will get a much-needed break this week with a bye on October 17 before heading to Crockett County on October 24.
