Eagles fall to South Gibson after weather delay, injuries

Posted

The Chester County Eagles ran into a tough South Gibson squad Friday night, falling 45–10 in Medina.
The Eagles hung close early, trailing 28–10 at halftime after a strong second-quarter score from Heath Stewart and a field goal by Linkin Phillips. But momentum shifted after a 45-minute weather delay before the start of the third quarter, as the Hornets pulled away in the second half.
Chester County also suffered a setback when quarterback Ethan Burks went down with a lower-leg injury early in the fourth quarter.
Head Coach Dewond Johnson said the team will use the game as a learning moment.
“We took one on the chin Friday night. South Gibson was a very physical and talented team. All we can do is regroup and get ready for Hardin Co. Friday.”
Chester County (1–2) will look to rebound this week as they host Hardin County.
