The Chester County Eagles wrapped up a challenging week with games against Crockett County on Tuesday and Liberty Tech on Friday night.
On Tuesday, the Eagles made the trip to Alamo, where Crockett County’s strong offensive push in the second half helped hand Chester County a 65–44 loss. The Cavaliers jumped out to a 17–8 lead after the first quarter and held a 24–15 advantage at halftime. Chester County put together a solid third quarter, scoring 15 points, but Crockett County answered and eventually pulled away with a big final period.
Jaden Williams led the Eagles with 13 points, followed by Jay Brown with 11.
The Eagles returned home on Friday to take on Liberty Tech, and despite a late push, they came up short in a 65–55 battle. Liberty set the tone early, building a 16–7 lead after the first quarter. Chester County settled in offensively and trailed 26–18 at the break. The Eagles continued to chip away in the second half, but Liberty answered each run to hang on for the win.
Jaden Williams paced Chester County with an impressive 22 points, while Elam Murphy knocked down three shots from beyond the arc on his way to 12 points.
Head coach Tarius Johnson said he likes the direction his team is headed despite the tough week.
“I believe we are growing as a team,” Johnson said. “It’s not easy taking losses, but it’s about how we handle them. We’re a strong bunch, and we’ll keep getting better and growing as a team.”
The Eagles will look to regroup as they host Jackson Christian and Madison Academic next week.
