The Chester County High School volleyball team had a dominant showing at the Freed-Hardeman University Tournament on Saturday, battling through a long day of matches to take home the championship title.
The Eagles opened pool play strong, defeating Halls in two straight sets. After dropping a tough match to Crowley’s Ridge in two, Chester County bounced back with a decisive two-set win over Camden. The team then got a chance at redemption, outlasting Crowley’s Ridge in three sets to earn a spot in the championship match.
In the finals, the Eagles faced Clarksville Christian and delivered a thrilling performance. In the opening set, Chester County trailed 18–23 before storming back to win the set, swinging momentum their way. They carried that energy into the second set, finishing off Clarksville Christian in straight sets to secure the championship.
Head Coach Emily Ellis praised her team’s grit and perseverance throughout the day.
“Our girls fought hard all day long. They remained steady even when we were down,” Ellis said. “In the championship game, we were down 18–23 and came back to win that first set. The emotion and dedication the girls played with was so rewarding to watch! I am excited to see what all that we can achieve this season.”
With their championship run at FHU, the Lady Eagles have set the tone for an exciting season ahead.
