County welcomes new and returning officials

Chester County welcomes a number of new officials following state and local General Elections August 6.
A total of 2,423 local residents voted their voice, with 1,341 participating in Early Voting, 1,023 voting on Election Day, and 59 voting Absentee. Of the total ballots cast, 330 voted in the Democratic Primary and 2,022 in the Republican primary.
In local results, the following officials return to office unopposed with confidence votes:
County Mayor Barry Hutcherson, County Trustee Lance Beshires, Sheriff Mark Griffin, Circuit Court Clerk Justin Emerson, County Clerk Stacy Smith, Road Superintendent Todd Brown, Mayor of Enville Melinda Johnston and Chancellor 26th District Jennifer Corvellis.
Dorris Ethridge, REP, returns as Register of Deeds, receiving 1,788 votes.
The Chester County Commission reduces to a 12-member body with this election, six fewer members as decided by a 12-4 Commission vote in January. Newly elected Commissioners are, by district:
District One: Kevin Faulkner and Heather Carter
District Two: Dwain Seaton, Sr. and Al McKinnon
District Three: Ann Moore and Luke Weaver
District Four: Dylan R. Clayton and Darryl Thompson
District Five: Tim Crowe and Barry Smith
District Six: Dan Crump and Dane Burns
Serving on the School Board will be Brandy Cherry - District One; Norris Frank - District Two; and Jeremy Snider - District Six.
Also returning to office are City of Henderson Aldermen Mark A. Barber, Donna Butler and Keith Smith, as well as City of Enville Aldermen, Wanda Kaye Ritter and Nickalaus W. Weatherington.
On the Judicial questions ballot, local voters opted to retain all.
In the statewide Primary Governor’s race, Chester County Democrats chose Jerri Green with 207 votes. The next closest in the DEM Governor’s race was Carnita Atwater with 46 votes.
Local Republicans chose Marsha Blackburn with 919 votes. Monty Fritts followed with 744 and John Rose with 336.
Other results include REP United States Senate Bill Hagerty; REP United States House of Representatives District Eight David Kustoff; REP Tennessee House of Representatives District 72 Kirk Haston; REP State Executive Committeeman District 26 Johnny Bellis; REP State Executive Committeewoman District 26 Stacy Hardin Brewer; DEM United States Senate Marquita Bradshaw; DEM United States House of Representatives District Eight Heidi Kuhn; DEM Tennessee House of Representatives District 72 – none qualified; DEM State Executive Committeeman District 26 Charles B. Watkins, Sr.; and DEM State Executive Committeewoman District 26 Civil Miller-Watkins. Candidates receiving the most votes in each primary will progress to the November State and Federal General Election.
